Both Demos were crazy good but that Crest 2010 demo was pretty sick.... I don't remember a memory expansion ever coming out for the C64.  Heck I bought the C64 a couple of months after it came out when I was a kid.  Spent all my newspaper money.

That was really impressive, do you think the Risen From Oblivion demo would run on my stock Commodore 128D ?

The C64 demo didn't do much for me.  By all means, nice colours and design, but displaying animations never impressed me much.

Risen from oblivion, on the other hand, is quite impressive.  AFAIK, it's one of the very few demos that actually use the full 64K VDC expansion on my C128.  I seem to recall that this demo also utilizes the 2MHz mode quite cleverly.

I have ridiculous amounts of respect for the C64/C128 coders active today.
Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

My thought, as well.  I think it would, as I did not see anything special in use other than the hard drive-like interface used for storage.  The 128D has a 64k VDC, so I would give it a go.

That's affirmative.  A 128D should run this demo without problems, "flat" 128's needs the extra VDC memory.

It actually runs with the standard 16k VDC, some parts are just improved with full 64k VDC

The rotozoomed faces scene in the Oblivion demo was particularily impressive for me..

Question about the rotozoom part of both demos: for either demo were those calculations for the rotation and scaling of each frame done in real time? That would totally blow me away if this were the case! (arguably even more so with the C64, since it has the slower CPU of the two).

Nice, very nice...

I always find it amazing how far (even today) people can push the old hardware...

Can you imagine how astounding this would've been back in 1984?

Mike.
