Be a man and tell me privately.

Isn't that a bit of a, how do you say, contradiction ? Like military intelligence ? If I had a problem with somebody I'd say it to them, not their friends/manager.. If I can't work things out with him/her, then I would go to you or Kees or another moderator.. But hey, who am I.. :-P  ;-)

I can't say I paid much attention, but I expect the sort of stuff you are referring to comes from a minority of loudmouthed trolls.

Or w*nkers, as I prefer to call them.

User feedback, positive or negative should at least be courteous, after all manners cost nothing.

Speaking of feedback, any chance of making the message box larger / scalable? Thats both for the post page and the pmail reply...

I honestly feel at this point that there are a lot of things we can do to advance this site, but if people aren't happy, they simply shouldn't be here.  While I'm all for an open dialog, I am (and I'm sure my staff agrees) no longer interested in being beaten up for providing a free service.

If you have a grudge with me or my staff.  Be a man and tell me privately.  If you want to be a whiny bitch, might I suggest you go elsewhere.

There are more than one people out there bashing this site and the admins.  Don't know what you would concider proof, but I'm satisfied of that fact.

I think Wayne is asking people to do just that. Instead of expressing your objections *about* a staff member in public, contact them in private...

I'm not asking for subserviance.  I'm only human.  I do make mistakes and when I do, I usually own up to them.  My resentment (and it is not aimed at you) stems from not being able to quell the massive number of rumors and childish sucknuts out there.  After a while, it grates on your nerves.

Wayne, I honestly think that these people are a loud minority. Think of all the users who use the site and don't cause a nuisance, there are so many people who appreciate this site, they really do.

I certainly do appreciate the hard work that is put into it,  and I'm sure 99% of the users will agree with me when I say how grateful I am for the fact that this site exists at all. It has helped me nurture my love of the Amiga after returning after a ten year break, as well as providing a great way to relax in the evenings and a way to socialise away from my usual social circles in real life.

In life, a minority always spoil things for the many. There's not really much we can do about that. But please realise that when you do get users whining and bitching, they are just a minority. Please don't think that the rest of the users don't appreciate the site or the work that goes into it, becaus we do!

I like Amigas

I must not read here enough anymore, I missed all that. It's probably a good thing I missed it, I have a low tolerance for that crap.

The current twisting of the thread at ANN is a good example of children who shouldn't be allowed to use their mommy's computer after nap time.

@Farquad,

Good point, but the twits in that thread (not the real people) don't really bother me.  You can't make everyone happy, and apparently not everyone is burdened with maturity or even sanity.

Hi,

That thread on Ann made me see with my own eyes that there are people
ou there to destroy Amiga.org and Wayne. Posting under a fake name and
telling lies. Makes me sick.

Coder

Check it out - I found the ass-end!

That attitude is certainly the best one to have, and as far as I am concerned you and your team do a fantastic job of moderating/developing the site and you deserve the respect that, that success confers. Some of the posts on other threads have been down right rude and should not have been made, so I fully understand & support  your decision to close the forum (in the short-term at least).

As celiea has said previously, this is your (as in the team) site and you should run it as you see fit. In my opinion - and I accept that I am a relative newcomer to the "scene" - it is far and away the best of the Amiga related websites, and given the number of visitors everyone else seems to support my views.

As for those who ruin it for us by their childish comments, how many of those people would be prepared to devote so much of their time as the moderators and webmasters do FOC? Probably none, it just goes to show that they are a bunch of people who gain satisfaction from disrupting other's enjoment and as far as I am concerned the webmasters are well within their rights, and encouraged, to ban such people (as I'm sure they know who they are).

Anyway, best of luck to the moderator/webmaster team for the future !

The decision has been made -- at least temporarily -- to keep this forum open as a means of positive communication.  As such, I am now locking this thread.

Please see the "About this forum" announcement to clear up ANY misconceptions about the purpose and guidelines of this forum.

Actually, on second thought, instantly locking this thread was a bit rude.  If you have further comments regarding this, or any of the other policy changes today, feel free to ask questions here.

I have a feeling that the purpose of this thread will outlive itself on it's own.
