Cope-Com is proud to announce that our world renowned shooter of the Amiga era, Battle Squadron, receiving an amazing 109% rating, is now available for Android - on Google Play

After releasing the iOS version to retro fans all over the world (92%, including new players, rated it 5 stars !!) we now have the Android version ready. We have conserved the highly praised gameplay exactly like on the Amiga, while at the same time adapting it to surperb play on mobile devices. New online enhancements include online Leaderboards and Achievements.

What the press said about the iOS version:
4.5/5 @ http://www.toucharcade.com - "Battle Squadron ONE is excellent gaming, folks. Do not miss it"
5/5 @ http://www.iphonefreak.com - "A fantastic shooter which beats the vast majority of its modern day equivalents hands down!"
5/5 @ iphonegameruk.co.uk - "Those that love retro shooters will also enjoy this game incredibly"

And the original Amiga version:
109% @ Amiga Computing (2:10) - "Now Battle Squadron is the best"
90% @ Info (31) - "It's expert execution and addictive playability"
90% @ The One Amiga (56) - "Battle Squadron is so addictive that you just can't stop playing"

Battle Squadron ONE plays on Android 2.2 and above and includes:
- 2-player split-screen on tablets (world's first !!)
- 4 fantastically detailed levels to fight your way through
- 4 highly diverse "bosses" to defeat... and scores of different enemies
- 24 different weapons (4 types of 6 grades each) + Nova Missile
- Several control options, including "2x direct touch"
- 4 difficulties ("Squadron Leader" is exactly like on Amiga)
- Über-difficulty mode: "Air Commodore"... with surprise ending

So engage and destroy... and to those of you who remember: "Welcome to Battle Squadron !!"

They had to, after giving Xenon II 100% the previous month AFAIR. Those were the days ...

Bummer.  I'd be interested to try it...  But way wary of buying, since shooters, in general just don't seem to translate well to the touchscreen and/or tilt control.  It's particularly infuriating when it's a game you know you loved, but suffers greatly by being adapted to a control scheme that just can't support that style of play.  :(

my piece of crap Motorola Dext is Android 1.5, so that rules me out.

might get it when my missus finally gives me her Galaxy S2 at the end of the month :)

Just looked at the specs for it on Android..... 19MB in size?!?!?

I thought stuff was meant to get better with technology? ;)

I know what you mean and that was the reason we spend so much time perfecting the control mechanics. Imho the control mechanics turned out very well and even hardcore gamers were surpriced on how well it actually turned out :)

And no game slowdown when in 2 player splitscreen mode. Just more of the Amiga legacy thrill

Thanks that's cool to hear and be sure to check world's first 2 player split-screen shooter feature then. (I think i should work on samsung note, smaller smartphones the feature is disabled by default, since the screen is too small)

Maybe I am a minority, but I think the "controls" stink.

Playing games with touch phones in general sucks, but i think the controls were pretty good, could have been a lot worse. Another World is almost unplayable on touch screen.

Tthe controls have been a real challenge, cause if neglected on smartphones/tablets one could easilly end up with something very messy and utterly unplayable. I do not recall anytime where I have spent this much time on controls tweak testing together with beta testers. A big challenge indeed... :drink:
