WinUAE 0.8.26 Boot Crash
« on: May 19, 2004, 11:40:19 AM »
If I enable 128Mb of Z3 RAM on 0.8.26 (latest version as of 19-05-2004) the emulation crashes on boot. This is a reproducable error that does not happen with 64Mb or less of RAM.
Any ideas? I'm on WinXP, SP1a DX8.1 - though I'm not using the DX filter for old screen resolutions compatability, 512Mb RAM.
Saw the light in 1990, found WinUAE in 2003

128MB of Z3 RAM works fine for me.
Did exactly the same config file with 128MB of Z3 RAM work with 0.8.25?
There is a list of current 0.8.26 bugs here.

Hey Alphonsus

This is my first post for months and months and months - but I've been here as always reading on the forums and I think I can help you.

I think yr problem is DirectX 8.1 - I found my WinUAE setup to react in all sorts of way while using it - usually ending in a crash. This also happened to me in a few native games, including Warcraft 3. If you upgrade to DX9 it should solve yr problem :)

Its good to be bk :)

Fairwater :)

I check amiga.org almost every day and keep up2 date but unfortunately I haven't got the time to use WinUAE or dig my old amiga 1200 out of the cupboard. I kinda lost a little heart when (at the age of around 13/14/15 - cant really remember!) I managed to save the massive amount of cash for A HD and a 4mb fast ram expansion, and a couple of months later watch the 4mb board blow up and take the HD with it :(

Looking forward to getting an A1 soon though :)

Hum,
yea at first i as a bit disappointed with this release...
crashed as i loaded up a config file, but i sused it now...

(just create a new default setting, and don`t use the load feature!)

i noticed that the `sound` seemed to have improved in octamed for some reason...and overall i think it is (well it should be) better than 0.8.25....
