Title: Newtek Video Toaster/Flyer software available for free
Post by: clusteruk on April 10, 2017, 09:54:14 AM
I have been given permission by Newtek to distribute the Video Toaster run time software for free and whilst I am sure it will only help people crazy enough to want to run the NTSC video toaster in a Pal region there may be more like me, note I cannot support you as this is a complex and expensive project except with the odd email support of my experience and videos. While I sort out the best place for it to reside if you need a copy of it please get in touch with me. Note, you need the toaster hardware and this is not a way to get Lightwave for free.

Excellent work!

It would be even better if you could take advantage and merge the fruits of the OpenVideoToaster project. There are a lot of plugins and enhancements over there,  which are binaries and are legally free. You should contact Pyromania, as far as I know he was in charge of that project.

Perhaps you are not aware of this but the binary install software and manual have been available for free  from DiscreetFX for many years. And of course the source code is also available. If you have something to contribute to Open Video Toaster please let me know. It's always nice to see interest and excitement for the Amiga Video Toaster/Flyer.

Google

Open Video Toaster

Install 4.3  ADF floppy and ISO of the Video Toaster/Flyer software are in the download section.

@Pyromania

What about the Millenium package?

You are the owner of those rights, arent you?

I dont currently have a Toaster/Flyer combo but I believe despite they are aged hardware, they should surely be preserved and should have an adequate software repository.

Yes DiscreetFX does own the rights to that commercial package. We invested in saving it and acquired it from Nova Design way back around 2004. It will be available again shortly. We upgraded it to be buyable as a digital download in addition to the 3 CD-ROMs and printed manual version.

To make it easier for everyone, for a limited time I have added the complete source code to the Amiga Video Toaster Flyer on the link below.

http://www.discreetfx.com/DownloadToaster.html

Get it while it's hot, we normally don't distribute the complete source this way. It will be removed after this weekend when the more limited versions of the sources are fixed on each applications link on the Open Video Toaster website.

Although dated the video toaster is a lot of fun to play with. Rendering any lightwave animations to the flyer drives takes forever but the final product is still excelant.
My flyer system is still working today :)

Thanks much for the V4.3 software Pyro! Really grateful for this download as I never did get the CD from DiscreetFX. I have the Toaster software but on floppy and disks are getting old. I have the complete Millenium package including the printed manual I received when I bought my Flyer board from DiscreetFX. :) That was a helluva nice surprise! Just acquired the Flyer octopus cable set recently too!

No one is in contact with Tim Jenison (actual CEO of newtek and video-toaster architect)? I think he have no reason to not share the latest amiga binary as a gift to the amiga community (he is featured even on viva amiga film)
