NetSurf OS3
« on: March 06, 2020, 09:24:24 PM »
The search isn't working, so I'm forced to create a new topic.

Please can somebody try this build.  It's built against AmiSSL 4.4, but when I tried it here (with only 4.4 installed) it complained about not finding AmiSSL.

https://www.cy2.uk/tmp/netsurf_os3.lha

So I'm not sure whether I broke something or there's an issue with AmiSSL 4.4 (amisslauto requesting the wrong lib or something?)

I didn't get ssl error, (loaded https://amigaworld.net) but tons of other errors. Amigaworld used to load 14 seconds, now it rendered it 297 seconds. Hopefully because of debug output.

Picture is before amigaworld was loaded because there is all errors presented. Last error in picture was some 100x times.

I fixed snap so that I could give you a proper logs. So here you are. Tried both of my 68060 Amigas, results are 100% identical.

Can you try disabling the disk cache?
In users/default/options add/change:

Shell window with errors doesn't appear then and it is also faster about 25%. Menus are broken, when I go to preferences and then click use or save, there is no menus anymore.

Looks to me like you didn't update your libamisslauto.a to the one from the 4.4 SDK - NetSurf is asking for AmiSSL 4.3. Those saying it is working must have AmiSSL 4.3 installed (in addition to 4.4, possibly).

I'll have to double check. I modified my build to the new archive and I thought I'd checked the timestamp, but maybe it didn't update properly.

The proper builds are back now, if somebody wants to check them (should also be set to use AmiSSL 4.4)

Does it have debug eneable by default? Because it prints all errors to shell window?

Above a certain level, yes. You can change it in the config (don't ask me how).

My OS4 machine is disconnected at the moment so I haven't had chance to check if this is a general Amiga frontend bug or OS3 specific. There were some changes to the disk cache which I suspect are the cause.

The workaround is to disable the disk cache, see above.

If somebody could download the latest build and check if the page info stuff works that would be quite helpful.

Should be a button to the left of the URL bar (has been there a while but in a disabled state) which shows whether the page is secure or not (padlock etc).
If you click on it another window will pop up underneath with more info.

I'm interested in whether the window displays correctly, and whether it disappears when you click somewhere off of it (but preferably not on the original button)

Should display similar to how page info does in other more mainstream browsers (ie. an info popup rather than a window per se)

I know it's fine on OS4 but can't test it on OS3 at the moment.

Just downloaded NetSurf-gcc-5120.lha and it works great! On my A600/Vampire with OS 3.9, the icon for secure/unsecure connection show as black/black with some red diagonal line but when I click on it, a popup window appears to tell me whether the Web site is secure or not: Very cool! 8)

I have some debug output, does it help you?
