Open PCI + Genesis
« on: February 24, 2003, 06:22:31 PM »
I've managed to get amithlon + os3.9 + genesis on it's own bootable partition. powerne2k.device doesn't recognize the 8139too PCI card. The OpenPCI driver now appears to recognize the card, but tries to use BOOTP to get my IP/DNS etc... but can't as I have NTL broadband which uses DHCP. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, Genisis doesn't support DHCP, so you'll have to use Miami for it to work...

Is this the Amithlon setup? Try asking on the Amithlon mailing list:

As already stated, Genesis can't use DHCP.
There are two solutions:
1 - Use a different TCP stack.
2 - Get a router then connect the computer through that (that way, the router gets the IP address from DHCP and you can use either BOOTP or even static addresses internally)

Regards,
Ben de Waal.

Oh and miami is commercial but the author has abandoned it (you can't register anymore). So if you find a crack, go right ahead.
