Uae for miggy
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:36:32 PM »
Hi I have got a 603e/175 040/25 miggy 1200 and I was wondering if there is a ppc version of uae for the miggy with custom chip support through rtg.

I have both bvisoion (possibly dead)
and a cybervision 64/3d .

what I am basically asking is, I dont want to have two monitors to play all my old chip banging games, so can i use a version of uae on the miggy through my graphics card, that will run at least the speed of a vanilla A1200 or at a push A500

cheers guys

In all honesty Id say although there is UAE that will use your PPC... you wont find it fast enough to play any games at vanilla 1200 speed... I have it here and I use it to play around on from time to time... but thats about as far as it goes...

Cheers for the info, will u not even get A500 speeds, bearing in mind half the processor speed and no aga.

Has it not got jit then

Im supprised nobody has written an emulator for the miggies that use the custome chips to emulate themselves so to speak.

How hard would it be to write code that just converts all graphics addressing to cybergraphx, ie runns in the backgrou nd and just diverts all aga output to rtg.

Not even close. 603e/175 is hopelessly too slow.

It has no JIT.

Because it's close to impossible.

The best you can get is WHDLoad and redirect Amiga signal to video-in of a TV-card feeding the tv signal to overlay window on a gfxcard (you need PCI-busboard for that obviously).

Well, 175 and 25Mhz might be too slow, but 233 and 50 Mhz are fast enough to play any game. I used to play Testdrive 2 on it and it is really fun.

Get the WarpOS version from here: http://www.amiga-forum.de/files/uae-0.8.12-R1WOS.lha

You have to create your own config file (no GUI) and of course you have to tweak the performance options.

320x240 lowres, skip 10 frames and use mono audio at 11025 Hz should make it.

Bye,
Thomas

Yet another dated AmigaOS port.

It saddens me to know that that the people who port programs to AmigaOS don't keep their ports up to date with the latest source releases.

LAME,  UAE and  Generator to name a few. All good programs. All have been ported to AmigaOS, but all haven't been updated in ages.

This can't look good to onlookers, seeing that the Amiga only has old, dated versions of open source software.

I have to disagree here, even 603p@266 + 060@64 + BVisionPPC@97 MHz is too slow for any reasonable use.

320x240 lowres, skip 10 frames ...

That gives 5 fps update speed. I wouldn't call that "fun".

But I guess this is a matter of opinion.

wow i guess there is a difference between the 603 and 604.

used to run PPC uae on my cyberstorm no problem. window on workbench, Toki only dropped a frame here and there, well playable.

only thing that annoyed me was it wanted the Powerup librarys and didn't like the warpup emulation of powerup.
