nice to see that "scamiga" appears to be entering the Amiga lexicon

No, it's not.

Just curious.. Is there proper documentation of how to use the AGA chipset..?
Such that it can be implemented without a mountain of reverse-engineering..?

If dennis is reading this thread:

I host svn & trac on my server (http://trac.edgewall.org/)
which combines a wiki/svn brower/timeline/bug ticketing system and milestones and more via plugins.

I also host mailinglists etc

Might be a useful for this project ? I'd be happy to help.

I see from reading through all the posts in this second thread that Dennis has not written anything here on Amiga.org in a while.  I hope that his silence is a sign that he is deeply involved in finishing the last few bits of the Minimig project and release plans (after his vacation of course).

It is amazing how much interest, sustained interest, the Minimig has created, and not only by old crusty Amiga users.

I am slowly finishing my "Carputer" project in my new Dodge Nitro SUV, which I have incorporated extra Composite video inputs to the 7" LCD touchscreen monitor and also the future rear seat 10.4" flip down DVD player's LCD screen.  The Minimig will be a perfect addition to that system for traveling entertainment.

Hope all is well with you Dennis and that you are not feeling pressure from all the attention your Minimg project has generated.  Some of us fanatic Amiga users can be somewhat demanding about getting what we want, when we want it, and with so many previous projects never being completed, some of us are also very jaded and skeptical.

Write a progress note when you have a spare minute.  Thanks for producing the most exciting Amiga related project of the last several months, if not years.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Nice to see that Dennis came through for us. The source files are here, they compile and are starting to simulate.

Now to get them converted to VHDL so I can read them more easily ;-)

Where are the files then ..? ;-)

What hardware do you use ..?

Just awesome. Does anyone see a possibility to use a newer and faster freescale CPU than this Version of the 68k?

Damn, and there was me thinking the same thing.

AGA can wait but a faster CPU would be nice. A very small Amiga on your desktop, OCS but fast CPU. That's what I want!

Yes,especially a 68060 would be fine or the Coldfire CPU which's also used in the Dragon Board by Elbox. But then it would need a much faster Bus.

If you manage to convert to readable VHDL please share.

Oh FFS please get REAL. 68000 to 68020 isn't a huge leap in cost or reality but Coldfire? Maybe next decade!

Coldfires aren't that expensive but it would need extreme bus changes and speedups and thats the mainproblem because it would need that much work that it should be better to design new hardware from scratch.

Ah by the way a idea that wouldn't be much a problem: How about more ram?

forget coldfire. there are lessons to be learned from elbox's dragon adventure.

Also why do you need all the speed ? A 68020 or 68030 are more than enough. A 32 bit ram interface with a 32 bit processor would be very useful. Next step is a device driver for a flash HDD device.

Yeah, you're right, was just an idea because the Coldfires are easier to come by than the old Motorolla typos. Also this would have been a nice future Amiga hardware with a fast and stable speed and some new applications (if there are some willing programmers)

BTW: The Minimig reminds me more of a Amiga1000 than of a Amiga500,especially the KickstartRom which has to be loaded from drive at the beginning and the CPU description also looks more like Amiga1000 kind.

Why is the cpu pin 19 not connected to anything ..?

Btw, I hope we get our own Minimig section.. One BIG thread is not that good idea..
