Apparently, they have hired new developers who will take commodore os into the future...

By spending countless development minutes skinning it to look more like amiga OS.

Who knows this grand new vision of commodoreOS's future might also include new wallpapers, or other worthless eye candy that takes minutes and minutes to make.

Silly commodoreUSA, Leave mint linux alone.

They "forked", if you can even call it that, their distro into two seperate distro's. Leo is working on the new Vision, the one you download, and then this new guy is working on Fusion, the one they intend to dump on their system.

Recently Leo asked their forums to start making tutorials for him and asked for help skinning the Mate desktop. My question would be why someone who was apparently hired for their technical "expertise" suddenly needs all this help skinning it. The tutorials I kind of can understand because they do take time to write. However the rest he should be able to do if he is the tech expert. Given the fact that Leo has had very little involvement with the community in terms of help I also do wonder how much involvement he has in the company at all.

CommodoreOS is ****e, long die CommodoreOS!
I'm happy they've gone away. It was a ridiculous attempt anyway. :destroy:

Your right it was a 30 million dollar advertising budget. (for youtube videos?)

A "chief technical officer" asking the community for help skinning linux mint with commodore themed wallpapers....?

Thats funny on so many levels...

Also funny that they just happily go on using the commodore name with no legal right to do so. I'm starting commodore international myself, but we're going to use a different linux distro for our own "commodoreOS".

Where are all those previous cool aid drinkers of commodoreUSA now?

Busy teaching the "chief technical officer" to make wallpapers?

:p

WTF is Amiga OSX?  Is it suppose to be Linux pretending to be OSX pretending to be Amiga OS?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.

I'd only bother installing COSV1 beta/update 9 for the moment.
The only reason COSV2 isn't out is because I keep finding something that was missed.Any day now to betatesters. Sorry for the delay.

Commodore OS is up to 2.0 without a single line of actual code written?

Maybe those guys are smarter than people give them credit for. Why waste
time coding an os when you can spend your time just making wallpapers?

Thats AWESOME.

:)

No, it's not. It's just boring, this is why there's a separate sub forum for this kind of stuff ("CommodoreUSA Amiga"), somebody needs to move this thread there.

Quote

Funny though that it may be illegal for them to be using the commodore name at all now,
given the current legal stuff with the name and so on.

AFAIK, they never paid a single cent for their license to use the Commodore name - Asiarim's SEC reports kept repeating until late 2011 that they hadn't recieved any licensing fees from their only licensor (CUSA) yet.

That's when dutch C=Holding and Asiarim started fighting over who owns it anyway, I doubt Barry has been paying either of them anything since then.

Quote

I guess they lost the right to use the amiga name, maybe they stopped paying silly billy and Amiga inc for the stickers?

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say they never paid anything. It's not like McEwen looks like he could force you to play nice, so it's worth a try - right? It worked with Asiarim, after all.

Then somebody connected to Kourri's estate showed up, and made it pretty clear that they're expected to pay or their asses will be dragged to court. As the 'Amiga line' probably sold like crap anyway, they just dumped it.

As I said - just a guess.

I think its relevant as general amiga chat...

After all, they had at one point amiga branded computers and all these plans.

Dumping it here insures no one will see or hear of it.

Are they getting special treatment from amiga.org to hide their failures?

How come os4, morphOS and AmigaOS successes or failures can get openly discussed as general amiga chat but not the stuff from this "company" ?

You could of course "openly discuss" CUSA if you wanted to - right here on amiga.org.

Problem is: people never do that when CUSA is involved.  They're usually just bashing them, like you're doing in this thread - linking to a skin released by an unknown user, the page linked to doesn't even mention "Commodore" at all, yet your thread is titled 'os4 theme for "commodore os"? hahahaha'.

That's not called discussing. And because neither the "haters" nor the "CUSA fanboys" seem to be able to hold back, even the people who really want to discuss CUSA (I doubt there are any left) have to do it in the basement.

Actually do a little research. The title page clearly says it's for Commodore OS. Along with the name of the guy publishing it. Although to be fair I don't get the osx thing.

http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Environment/Icons/Amiga-OSX-85248.shtml

The cusa threads do gain heat. But I have seen far worse in those ridiculous red vs blue threads. So wind your neck in. No one is forcing you to go on these threads. It's in its correct sub forum now so chill out.

Just so I don't get accused of idle trolling I have used cos. I know the flaws and I know how bloated it is. The theme is hurtful to the eyes and I ended up stripping most of the themes stuff because it was just pointless. It was also a bitch to get working because of numerous bugs and the fact the kernel was way outdated.

You're right, no idea how I could miss that. Doesn't change my point that this thread is anything but "open discussion" though.

Somebody was arguing it should be moved out again and I replied to that. That is actually called discussion.

Actually I found it interesting that someone made an icon pack that is actually better than the icons that came in the "base" system.

There can also be discussions with banter thrown in. It's when that banter becomes arguing and butthurt that it's probably time to pull the plug.
