Amiga floppies attacked by mould
« on: January 03, 2003, 11:24:34 PM »
When I arrived in Singapore six years ago, no one told me about the mould that attaches itself to magnetic film (tapes, floppies) until it was too late.  Now most (if not all) of my old Amiga floppies are unreadable.  Sometimes reinserting them over and over clears them, but I have to keep cleaning the drive head.  Does anyone know of a good way to clean the mould from a floppy without damaging the surface?  On a related matter, assuming that I have some success making these floppies operational again, would anyone be interested in them?  I have a ton of them: games, Amiga Format and CUAmiga coverdisks, utilities and productivity software (ImageFX, Bars and Pipes, etc.), some with manuals.  However, I am soon leaving Singapore and am reluctant to pay the movers extra money to cart all these floppies (in a large box) back to Canada.  Would anyone out there like to have them (assuming they can be made to work)?  I have some cover CDs as well.
