Vesalia
« on: November 11, 2004, 10:51:14 PM »
Based in Germany:

http://www.vesalia.de/

I have ordered several Amiga items from Vesalia, involving two separate purchases: a keyboard, 030 CPU card, replacement daughter modules for the A4000T, OS3.9, and some miscellaneous items. Email correspondance is good and the items always arrive nicely packaged.

I've had a lot of positive small purchases from Vesalia, however "the big" letdown was the only large purchase that I've made through them, which was a CSPPC card that arrived defective.

I've ordered a 233Mhz 060 version and received a 180Mhz 060 card, which had a dead PPC cpu. The card was badly packaged and I imediatelly knew that there was a great chance of it being defective, as it was virtually lose inside the small box it came in and could slide from one end of it to the other. :-(

Here comes the really bad part. Instead of sending a direct replacement card after I returned the defective card to Germany, they decided to send it for warranty repair...to DCE!!! :-(

Since then, I've made a few more small orders through Vesalia which all went through just fine, however when ever I would e-mail them and ask what the status of my CSPPC repair is, I'd get no reply. It's been almost 2 years now since I sent my card, and I seriously doubt that I'll ever see it again.

I got 2 keyboards, one for 600 and one for 1200, the only letdown was that they were send with ECONOMY rate, and took ~3 weeks to arrive to Greece... I was not informed about economy postage, I would gladly pay a few euros more to get them faster...
What a great dissapointment the csppc card was... I would give them a call x56h34!!!

Hm, in fact you don't have to care why the card arrived as a DOA. It's the resellers problem getting you a satisfactory product and them saying 'ah well it's out of our hands now' and pointing to DCE isn't going to hold op in lawpractice. If they cannot provide you with a satisfactory product they should give you a full refund. However being right and getting your right executed is something completely different :-(.

I guess even with Vesalia (quite a respectable name in my mind) one has to be very carefull >:|.

Well, but don't forget that DCE is in Oberhausen, Vesalia in Hamminkeln, that is about 20 km. I don't think that they have the PPC-cards in stock, so Mr. Does calls at DCE, they send it (maybe together with other things), and Vesalia sends it to you, as they got it from DCE. I know the people there good, they are all very interested in good customer service, they do a lot for customers. But they are only with two people there (sometimes Mrs Does comes helping, too), Mr. Does is really working night and day, and the weekends, too. More you really can't expect from him. Not without reason he is one of the two bigger Amiga-dealers who survived in Germany.

I would highly recommend this retailer. Bought OS3.9, 2 kickstart chips and blank disks. Got an email with payment confirmation, paid them right away. Got mail they received payment but unfortunatly weren't able to ship that day. 3 days later I had my package. That is pretty impressive for international shipping!
Overall i'd say excellent communication and fast shipping!

I bought a 4 Way IDE adapter for my A1200, arrived to the states in about 2 weeks - no problem at all.
