Why two login forms on the home page?
« on: June 23, 2009, 01:35:53 PM »
Hi,

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but why are there two login forms (username & password) on the main homepage? One at the top-right, next to the banner and one below that in the centre of the main page?

Wouldn't it be an idea to remove the second one and free-up a bit of space?

Mike.

We do it just to annoy you, and to be asked the same question repeatedly by users.  It makes us happy..  :)

To re-re-re-re-re-re-recap, the login in the header is part of the vBulletin package.  The login in the Welcome block is a part of the vBAdvanced package, and the only way to "get rid of it" is to alter the core code, which means that with every single upgrade, we'd have to go back and re-alter it again, and again, and again.

This is not something we want to do, so stay logged in and it won't keep you awake at night bothering you..  :)

Problem resolved.  Anonymous "users" can no longer see the welcome block.  I OUGHT to leave it up though, just to encourage anonymous users to actually register and become part of the web site.
