Just want to get some thoughts on amiga game music, what game do you feel has the best music, or any music that has stood the test of time?
I'd vote the chaos engine any day......... :-? :-D
-
I've a few favourites:
Project-X
Xenon 2
Lotus 3 (main theme)
Chaos Engine
Wing Commander
KGB demo
Rude!
-
Project X
Shadow of the Beast
Lotus 3
Pinball Dreams
Killing Game show
-
Cool, think project x is great, i'd have to put shadow of the beast II up there as well!
-
I cannot pick a best but I can list some of my fav's and let you choose.
Shadow of the Beast 1
Turrican 1, 2 & 3
The Killing Gameshow
Battle Squadron
A Prehistoric Tale intro (well actually all Jochen Hippel!)
+ lots of others
-
For me it is probably the theme from Epic, maybe not the best of games, but seasoned classical music with a twist is good!
-
These are the ones that stood out in my opinion (random order!):
Pinball Dreams
Behind The Iron Gate (Za Zelazna Brama)
Gloom
Alien Breed
Lotus III
Ruff N Tumble
Slam Tilt
Project-X
Chaos Engine
The Settlets
Jaguar XJ-220
Mortal Kombat II
Space Hulk
Perihelion
Sabre Team
Cytadela
Cannon Fodder 1 & 2
Turrican (which?)
Shadow Of The Beast (which?)
Desert Strike
Walker
That's all I can remember now =)
-

Cybernoid 2 rocks on the C=64, and AFAIK that game also came out on the Amiga.. Sure it has a good sound on our beloved miggy too..

I keep blowing up to get to the game over part, sweet!
Micropose f1 grand prix had a cool rip off theme tune to Fleetwood Mac, that was good!
-
{bleep} me. Just remembered the Great Giana Sisters tunes. Sent shivers up my spine. I loved that game as a kid. haven` played it in about 15 years.
-
Agony by a country mile, especially, the logo music and the titel screen music
-
See also GorillaMusic (http://guildserver.co.uk/kgwhd/gorillamusic/) for a listen to most of the popular ones!!
-

Xenon II by far the best
-
I always wonder why no one ever mentions Lost Patrol when it comes to game music; it's very good and fits the game perfectly
-
Xenon II... Cybernoid II (my phone's ringtone).... Gods.... Settlers....

-
Hi:
My favorite songs:
-hybris
-shadow of the beast 3
-hired guns
-blood money
cheers!!!
-
I'm kinda late on this thread, but...
I loved all the music to original Lemmings
Especially level 14
Amiga Tetris from Infograms had some really good music too.
-
I'm late too, but the best Amiga game music is for the shareware/freeware game "Intruder Alert" - grab it off Aminet and play! :D
-
I Really loved Crystal Hammer & Shadow of the beast
-
Mine are (based on my emulated stuff now):
- Full Contact
- Lotus 2
- Pinball Fantasies
- Shadow of the Beast (all?)
- Magicland Dizzy
- Project X
- Lost Patrol
- Speedball 2
...wait... I'll retrieve my whole game list...
- Baby Jo
- Elf
- Killing Game Show
- Lemmings 1 (most tunes)
- Superfrog
- Turrican (2?)
That's all I can remember. There's more for sure.
All I can see we all share roughly the same taste :)
One more thing; the best music I ever heard on Amiga (or any other computer) is from Enigma demo including one after rebooting it. Personally I think this 512K piece of art scares people nowadays because it shows alternative usage of the space approximately equal to 3-pages long MS word document.
BTW there's a kind of music called micromusic. Worth checking if you were an 8-bit kid.
-
My top 3 (off the top of my head):
Speedball 2 intro (can't believe they took it out of the CD32 version )
Cannon Fodder
IK+
-
I have to agree with all the previuos nominees - but does anybody know the main ingame theme of
** DRAGON WARS ** ??
All time favourite...
-
Here are some of my favorites that come to mind:
Apidya
Cybernoid 2
Deflektor
Gods
Lethal Excess
ProjectX
Turrican 2
Utopia
Wings of Death
-
What! No CinemaWare games?
Its not a game, but an early version of X-Copy used to have a killer mod tune when you booted from it.
-
I like best
Turrican I, II, III
Chris Hülsbeck is a quite good composer :)
