Yea,

It was too bad that the dreamcast had to go down, but no worries though, I like to go to Electronics Boutique and buy the Dreamcast games there. They are still ranging from $5-$15.  Yea, you can download the games and still play them, but you gotta keep in mind that it STRESSES THE LENS.  :-) So when possible, just buy the Original copies.  :-D

Yea, i am also considering trying to get a hold of a broadband adapter.  I just want to play PSO,but then if there are other neat tricks you can do, then I would also do that. Just hope I run into one in person.  :-D

Whatever you do, just get it and be happy.  Dreamcast still has lots of great games and still will be awsome.  :-D

Oh flip ... my DC has decided to just keep resetting itself (cue the blue wiggle going over and over).  Guess I'll be stripping it down again, hope I don't need another one - had this one since '99!

Oh, and my top 5 DC games:

5. Tokyo Highway Challenge 2 (finished!)
4. Soul Caliber (didn't get far, but 2 player fun aplenty))
3. Crazy Taxi 1 (Managed over 10k in both modes)
2. Quake 3 (got to last level)
1. Metropolis Street Racer (finished!)

My friends Dreamcast did that, and my other friends.

It's a common problem with the first batch of Dreamcasts which hit the market. Luckily it is easily solved (w/o buying a new one). Just open up your DC and disconnect the PSU board. It is attached to the motherboard with a 5-pin connector. The mobo draws a lot of power from the last pin which usually becomes oxidated and consequently starts to heat up quite a bit and doesn't bring enough power anymore. Just use a common contact cleaner on it and your Dreamcast will work again. Mine works fine ATM, I clean it up every 6 months usually.

What? Is the Dreamcast dead? I use it almost every day... often downloading free software which I can play around with.

Emulating the NES works perfectly. Emulating the Genesis/MegaDrive works, but the sound isn't really perfect. Emulating the C64 works pretty good too (pretty good since one has to turn off the 1541 emulation while not loading games off disc to get 100% speed). SCUMM VM is apparently working very well also...   I have not yet tried it out, though. Emulating the Sega Master System / Game Gear works flawlessly. Toying around with them emus on a daily basis.

Previosly owned a bunch of games...

Chu Chu Rocket
Crazy Taxi
Dead Or Alive 2
Evolution
Evolution 2
Grandia 2
Rayman 2
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Silver
Skies Of Arcadia
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Tech Romancer
Worms Armageddon

...and some more that I can't remember. Sold them all, though, since I felt finished with them. Grandia 2 sucked big-time for being a RPG which everyone talks about (way too easy, repetative, great battle system but completely useless since one could just press attack without bothering about anything else, savecones everywhere that gave the player back all HP/MP and {bleep} which made all the items and weapon/magic upgrades pretty useless, one never needed them blah blah blah). Skies Of Arcadia I still consider being one of the best RPG:s out there.

Recently someone released a Giana Sisters remake. Legal. A batch of new levels and nicer graphics. Next stop for me. A level editor is also supposed to be released sometime in the near future.

What I LOVED with the DC was that almost every game could run in PAL 60Hz (PAL 50Hz here in Sweden sucks, slow and a pain in the but... have someone ever tried out FFX on a European PS2? Biiiiig black borders and EVERYTHING runs in slowmotion). Everything went SMOOTH. In compatation with like GTA3 on the PS2...  nice grapichs, but really low framerate...  quite apparent in many PS2 games... I hate that fact. I can't play games on consolles that doesn't run smoothly (WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH TRUE CRIME ON THE X-BOX? EVEN THE LITTLE INTRO JERKS SO MUCH THAT ONE GET THE HORROR FEELING OF PLAYING LIKE HALF-LIFE 2 ON A 90MHZ PENTIUM WITH 32MB OF RAM).

Oh, well. Where was I? Right, I should shut up now...
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

Thanks Cristall, I'll try that!  Stripped it down about a year and a half ago, so I may have introduced this problem by mistake ... had to get all the cat hair out though ;-)

Hey slow down there,i know dreamcasts reset but one of the main reasons that happens is because of the internal battery going down..Just after you leave it on for a while it should be fine esp if you havent been using it every week at least..It just needs to be charged often enough...

True, for the last year my other half has been using it as an occational CD player, and she tends to use stuff then bury it for a while - I just grab it when I see it ;-)

Believe me, I had four Dreamcasts and three of them were from the first batch shipped in Europe and those three had all the same problem. If he has bought that Dreamcast at launch I'm very confident that the problem he is having is the same as the one I had.
