Kickstarter game considers an AmigaOS 4 port
« on: August 14, 2015, 12:33:36 AM »
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/514621648/tower-57

This creators of this retro style "chaos engine" clone is, according to their latest update, considering an AmigaOS 4 port (which they claim should be possible).

I'm pushing for an MorphOS and AROS port too :) But I think the more people that shows their support for such a port, the more likely it will be that it happens (if it's really technically possible that is. Remember the Wings remake).

I see the boing ball icon among the stretch goals, but there's no mention of the Amiga in the text...

Why on earth wouldn't it be? If a something like a Sam can't handle a game like that then that's pretty damned sad. In fact, when I see such a game all I can do is think about how it should be possible to do on AGA+68030 (with reduced graphics, of course, and NOT a simple port, but rather a handwritten engine from scratch, obviously).

The game update mentioned AmigaOS 4 as a stretch goal. I had already backed it, of course, as should everyone who likes retro-style Chaos Engine like games.

Not if they use Unity for example. Or use code that are too demanding. Or just don't know how to program for an NG Amiga.

I have my copy of AmigaOS4 for Classic PPC on the way.  Unfortunately don't have the real hardware to use it yet (not sure if I'll ever be able to get a PPC for my A4000D) but with WinUAE supporting PPC, I figured why not, and to support them.

Would be nice if they released it for Amiga OS 3.x, sure looks like it could run on it.

Either way, cool, I'll probably have to back it.

I doubt we will see a classic port. They program in C++, not ASM. But pester them and see if they warm up to that idea too ;)
