Hi,

You are right about that, Sir, it is a much underestimated veggy.

Broccoli
Broccoli is a Super Food.

New research suggests that broccoli is especially good for the stomach(1,2).

Broccoli and cancer risk
A compound found in broccoli and broccoli sprouts appears to be more effective than modern antibiotics against the bacteria which causes peptic ulcers. Moreover, tests in mice show that the compound offers tremendous protection against stomach cancer - the second most common form of cancer in the world.

The recent study, led by scientists at Johns Hopkins University, is the latest in a series of studies done in the past 10 years on the cancer-fighting potential of broccoli. (1,2)

Back in 1992, Johns Hopkins University pharmacology professor Paul Talalay and his colleagues showed that sulforaphane - a substance produced by the body from a compound in broccoli - could trigger the production of phase II enzymes. Phase II enzymes can detoxify cancer-causing chemicals and are among the most potent anti-cancer compounds known to man.

I found out why my broccoli wasn't doing well... not enough RAM.

:rofl

I am so glad to get my veggie thread today. Steamed broccoli and melted cheese is awesomely good.

Did you know that broccoli actually rules over all other green veggies. It's only nemesis is yellow corn which surprisingly has a nullifying effect much like the comic heroes Green Lantern and his nemesis the Yellow Lantern. To eat both at the same time can either have a sum zero effect in your gut, or cause the mother of all legendary comic book battles.

Wow! I'm so glad to see this thread again! Just like locating a long lost friend. Kind of brings a tear to my eye (sorry for the potato reference)!

Had something green with lunch posing as string beans... wish I'd had broccoli instead!

Not sure if this was previously posted but a second time can't hurt...
