Since being transitioned to DiscreetFX Partners, Amiga.org has remained Ad free to registered members. The site is a service to the Amiga OS 4.x, MorphOS, AROS & Classic Amiga Community and we would like to keep it that way. Pushing Ads at you that have nothing to do with Amiga goes against the grain of community growing. In the spirit of community we will keep the site Ad free for one year, maybe more.
It of course cost money to run the site so you can help keep it Ad free by becoming a Premium Member or feeding the Kitty. This is of course 100% optional and you will still have a great Amiga.org experience even if you don't donate. You can also request Ads from Amiga based companies to help them grow and prosper. If this happens at some point in the future is up to the Amiga.org community. We also welcome any and all suggestions for site improvement.
Best regards
DiscreetFX Partners

If the ads are kept to a minimum and dont take up a lot of the page then its fine with me.
As long as the ads are relevant and maybe only allowed to display special offers on hardware/software etc...
-
Ads don't bother me in the least as long as they are not flash.
-
No problems here with them, but if they get too intrusive and begin to spoil the experience of coming to A.org then I'll just block them.
-
With regards to ads, I dont mind them as long as they arent flash or pop-ups.
Also, why doesnt the feed the kitty thing tell you how much is needed for a particular month anymore?

I guess I'm just too used to adblock.

Great question, I'll ask Wayne about that one.

Hey if you click the Forums link (top menu bar) you will see the monthly goal at the bottom of the page. But, I agree, it should show up with the feed the kitty thing too.

Just like absolutely everything else. Completely different software, works completely differently. Haven't found that option to display monthly totals, unless you want it plastered at the top of every single page.

Found it dude, thanks :)

Ads related with AMIGA subject would be better. But a few ads unrelated wouldn't be embarrassing.

Also, remember vBulletin is not free. We have to pay for the updates. Which are a good thing, as I hope you recall the issues with not keeping up to date with Xoops releases.

Relevant advertising doesn't bother me. It is just part of having a free forum this day in age. I didn't even realize there were no ads until you mentioned it. I'd rather the site use ads and keep a constant revenue stream going.

So long as the ads arn't about Viagra or any enlargement kits then i'd be ok with it. Thing that kills websites is flash ads (weebls-stuff anyone?).
I think it's great we have an owner that is very honest and seems to be trying best to reduce ads and make this a more pleasent free enclosed community.

I don't mind ads if they're Amiga related. Where else can Amiga companies advertise these days other than Amiga forums? I'm glad I won't have to see any non-related ads anymore though.

Hopefully, if and when Bill decides to bring back the advertisements, he'll go with Google Ads.
Because of a couple of buttheads who are no longer on the site, I lost the ability to use Google Ads long, long ago, and the Yahoo ads that were running could not be targeted towards the Amiga, because I was literally too successful at targeting them on other sites.
For example, starting two weeks before Valentine's day, I ran ads for chocolates, candies and flowers on my Days Of Our Lives site (filled with housewives). What that meant was that for two weeks, I was getting about $50/day off of that one site, which triggered Yahoo's "fail" button and they took away the ability to target ads from my whole account.
Sucks, but at least they didn't completely remove me from the program which would have literally ended Amiga.org years ago.

I prefer static ads without any animation unless I am curious enough to click on them;I despise the equivalent of a carny barker when I 'm just strolling by.
Perhaps some sort of subscription be required in order to post ?

Of course. I think all of us probably agree that any Amiga-related ads on this website would be viewed as an enhancement. Looking forward to lots of those! On the the other hand, flash ads about losing bellyfat or free credit reports would become quite annoying very quickly.

Ditto. I just found out that Facebook has ads too.
So yeah, a.org, knock yerself out with ads :-)

You guys watch Dr.Who ? You know how people look at the Tardis but just don't register it in the brain ? That's how Ad's look to me!
Stick them in if you must, I won't even notice.

Ah, the perception filter...

Amiga related ads would be more than welcome, imo.
Who's "Transition" anyway? Is this the new owner?
