WarpOS, MMULib and 3.1.4
« on: December 10, 2019, 03:50:34 AM »
Does WarpOS work with MMULib and 3.1.4 combination?   I'm hitting into some issues and so wondering if there is some warpos env. settings I need to change?

In the tools directory of WarpOS, there is a command called "showinfo"   When I run this after MuGa is started in my startup, I get a crash.   But if I do a "showinfo" and then startup MuGa, all seems to be okay.   And running "showinfo" again after MuGa is started later it is okay as well.

This I think is a better capture.

Adding a capture now with the warpos debug=3 option turned on.

Can anybody reproduce this hit or is it just my system?

Basically, I'm enabling MuForce and MuGuardianAngel in the startup-sequence after setpatch and then once workbench is loaded, I execute the "showinfo" from the WarpUP distribution (though anything that opens powerpc.library I think will cause a hit).

Sorry, I only bought one copy of 3.1.4 for my Minimig, the software license prevents me from buying more copies for my other Amiga systems, like my A3000/CSPPC/CVPPC. To get help, you may consider applying for the Hyperion OS3 beta tester team.

What a nonsense. Nobody prevents you from buying another copy for another system.

Are you suggesting I should just ignore the software license?

No. Get one for the A3000, all is good. One license per system. (Not one per user).

Oh, you didn't ask that, right? Thanks for trolling.

No, you are the one trolling here - I will not, and can not, accept the conditions stated in the license, so hence I can not buy it. It is this simple.

You already bought one. So you accepted one. So what's the point here? Kolla, again, what's your problem?

This has to be per copy   I actually  bought 3 licenses

2. Permitted Uses and Restrictions.  This License allows you to install and use the AmigaOS on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the AmigaOS to exist on more than one computer at a time.

I assume there are some beta testers that have ppc cards.

When I bought the one copy I have, the license was not presented to me at point of sale - it was only available inside the archive that I downloaded - a so called "shrinkwrap license" which by itself is not legal.

Hence I complained to the European Commission via their online dispute resolution system, Hyperion recognised the issue, and within a few weeks, the web site changed to its current state, where license is presented *BEFORE* sale takes place.

(Strangely, this is only the situation for OS 3.1.4, for OS 4.1FE the situation is still that no license is presented before point of sale - I guess because noone reported it yet)

However, the license itself is just as ridiculous as it ever was - for example it says
Quote
You are required to select the appropriate "Locale" setting based on the location where you will be operating the AmigaOS
a rather insane requirement.

Btw - during the dispute resolution, I learned why AmigaOS is priced as it is, it is right below the point where consumer disputes would much more risky for Hyperion...

I was trying to see if I could narrow down where it is coming from but haven't yet.
I did try to load up OS3.9 with warpos with MuGa enabled before showinfo and there I haven't seen a hit yet.
