One thing, amiga games only.. :) If it been done on the PC later, then it does not count as an amiga game. :)

I would really love to see a remake of this game.
Since all games of this genre went wolfenstein->doom->quake->tomb raider the gameplay has been lost. Lifelike games suck, games aren't meant to be realistic to life.
I'd quite happily walk around a maze 1 square of the map at a time in a modern remake with cool 3D graphics and as opposed to moving in a 3d world. Captive was fast and real-time enough for my liking. I am loving playing this game again after a 18-20yr 'break' lol.

The Faery Tale Adventure,... :)
The very first game I bought and played on my old A1000. At that point in time the graphics (daytime turning to night etc..) and the sheer scale of the landscape quite simply blew me away. (and it all came on a single floppy disk)... :)

The biggest problem doing an Amiga game remake is that even if a programmer was up to the task and I'd imagine there are a few around, a programmer is not the same thing as a graphics artist or 3d guru- and most modern games these days require a few of these guys to work their magic and sell such a game. There are so many disciplines in making a game these days!

Yes, Feary Tale Adventure was amazing and had some kind of magic in it.
I already started an attempt to do something similar, with more modern techniqus (but no 3d). But that is not really a remake. I think the story itself is to thin for nowadays.

I played Heros Quest the other day, I loved that game and Legacy of Sorasil.
I think games like that should be doable, and with a flexible engine, it might be used to do remakes of Skeleton crew, Alien Breed and games like them.

Liberation was pants period. But yes something along those lines, but the player should not be left running around for hours wondering what the hell to do or where to go; linear gameplay is better than non-linear in my opinion.
The only thing I remember being unique in that game is how you stored items in inventory - slotless - you basically dragged whatever you was carrying to fit in the given space on the screen; that alone was highly original.
Liberation was a huge let down for many players who loved Captive.

Could have coop multiplay but should have the same gameplay; so no FPS!

I would not vote for FPS either, now adays, its seems like FPS are pretty much they only kind of games being made. I know its not completely true, but still..
Cannon Fodder could be done with more or less the same engine as mentioned above. Well at least I beleive it could be.

IIRC Faery Tale Adventure was ported to PC. Midwinter has an ST version, which one was the original and which the port? Both awesome games nonetheless - especially Midwinter with regards to the topic of this thread - incredible what they were able to do with simple vector 3D graphics.

Keep the great storyline aspect, add some killer cutscenes and use real actors A La Wing Commander Prophecy and update with modern graphics and flight physics but keep the game accessible and easy to learn but tough to master.
I would buy it in a heartbeat...

X-Com: UFO Enemy Unknown.
Updated to use RTG screens for a bigger play areas without scrolling and shadowing/field of vision shading.
and then port X-Com: Terror From The Deep.

Even though both of these games had PC versions back in the day, I agree that both need a revisit.
There's no spiritual successor to the AD&D Gold Box games, and that is really a shame. The entire offline RPG genre has been decimated by subscription-based MMOs, and that really sucks.
And as for Street Rod, there are a billion and twelve car games, and yet so few that even sniff at the borders of where this title firmly planted itself. The start of the game was always the best... You're basically broke and trying to bodge together a decent car from a bunch of dodgy 2nd hand parts bought out of the back section of the newspaper... Brilliant.
Another driving game is one that has been imitated a million times but never actually had the spirit duplicated was Stunt Track racer. The balance of needing to drive fast enough to win vs. needing to pace and not destroy the vehicle is really the nugget of joy behind a great arcade racer, and yet it is almost always the most neglected facet of the genre. "Do I fly over this jump knowing I'm going to overshoot the landing, hoping to get a fortunate bounce on the landing and come into the corner hot? Or do I tap the brakes on this ramp so I don't overshoot the landing and then gain back the speed by using the last of my boost out of the corner? I have about 0.1 seconds left to decide. Crap!" That's the kind of decision that makes heroes and idiots...... And I miss it.

Cannon Fodder's an excellent candidate - could easily me made to work with a 3D world to suit the mass public who wouldn't accept anything that wasn't 3D, and with similar camera angles and mot too many flashy extras, the gameplay could be kept pretty similar, i.e. great!
Also, Zeewolf could be a great game given an up-to-date 3D engine.
As for remakes that already made it, I loved Populous: The Beginning - still play it now from time to time. Also, Syndicate Wars looked pretty good but never got to play it...
What about Worms? (I'm joking, I'm joking...)

Zool - Would loved to see him in a 3d platformer (ok it was on every platform but by far most popular on the Amiga)

Cannon Fodder - That would be great a more modern one, it was rummors that a PSP version was coming out but it never has.

What you're describing is what I felt about Captive :)
Obviously the hypothetical remake would address these issues.

AD&D Goldbox would rock. I played through all of them and loved them all and was really disappointed with the "Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor" game that came out a while back. I was hoping for a reboot of the series.
Also, I agree with Stunt Car Racer. That game with modernized graphics would be so much fun.

I would love to see an Amiga version of Castles of Dr Creep. That puzzle game was awesome on the C64. I read somewhere that the creator Ed Hobbs lost the source code which would make it impossible to recreate or port. An AGA version of the original with even more rooms would be cool!

Stunt Car Racer - update of that would be fun, but its kind has been done with Track Mania
So many people say that, and honestly, I couldn't disagree more. The two games have nothing in common besides driving on roller-coaster like tracks.
TrackMania is a simple human vs. track game. And the tracks just aren't interesting enough to make that fly. Sure, you can race your ghost or your friend's ghost, but really, at its heart, it's just a time trial game over increasingly annoying terrain. If I'm going to play a time trial game, give me Richard Burns Rally. At least those cars are fun to drive, and the stages are challenging without being annoying.
Stunt Track Racer (or Stunt Car Racer in some regions) was human vs. human taking place on the track. There's bumping, damage, passing and blocking. At it's heart was a great arcade racer. The closest thing I can think of in spirit is the multi-player race mode in Flatout (the first one, not 2, not Ultimate Carnage or any of the other ones, but the original). Sure, it's a completely different game in looks, but it has the same human vs. human(s) driving element, taking part in a challenging landscape.
Anyhow, I digress. I'm one of the geeks that would like to see a modern Stunt Track (or Car) Racer.

Hi,
I would go for the first two games that I bought for the Amiga,
Arctic Fox and Skyfox both by Electronic Farts.
Arctic Fox was one of the few games that I could beat on the Amiga.
Also I would like to see a remake of the spreadsheet VIP professional.
I did a ton of work with this program making databases, checkbook programs, and tracking programs by using macros, quite fun really.

F/A-18 was continued out through a series of at least four more games on the PC, each getting more and more arcade-y at every release. Falcon FTW! (And Gunship, Gunship 2000 - the list goes on and on!).
Hired Guns was in the works years ago as - oh, noes! - an FPS using the Unreal engine (or maybe Unreal Tournament; it's been a long time and the project is dead, so I really can't recall).
Never cared for those little jumper/shooter sidescroller games that seemed so popular. Bleaugh. I wanted games that pushed my Amiga to the limit, not demanded I boot in PAL mode on an unexpanded A500 or A1200.
With that said, inasmuch as it was frustrating as all get out I'd like to see a remake of The Immortal. Good action adventure game with fantasy RPG touches!
It's also a shame that the FRUA (Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures) mod community wasn't based on the Amiga. You could still be playing all the classic AD&D modules today, and update the graphics to your own personal tastes.

2. technical and art concept (what is created by which technique like handdrawn, rendered etc.)
3. ~6 music scores
4. ground textures and still images (houses, walls etc.)
5. 50% of the game engine (World Editor, Software rendering engine)
6. About 10 3D models for pre-rendered figures
7. Build in Scripting Language
What I dont have:
1. Rendered Animations
2. Playable demo
3. Lots of stuff around the gameplay (Weapons, Title/Inventory Screen etc. etc.)
4. Time to finish this project (at least not at the moment)

Well, I just like that game. :)
Finished 10x on Zx, C64 and Amiga and yes, GFX and sound was pretty much the same on all platforms. This mean that a modern Amiga makeover would be great. ;)

For the moment though I am better at programming.
I dont think that Imagine would be suitable for this task.
The 3D Models I have so far are based on free material for Poser/Blender/DAZ 3D.
Most of the Models are already "rigged", but it is quite time consuming to edit and render all the animation frames.

Final Odysey would be awesome as a remake. I am playing it right now (been about 7 yrs since I last played it) and I admit I just love this game. I never made it really far before, but right now I have gone about 3 times further than I had before. Another good game I would like to see modernized would be Marble Madness, although not strictly an Amiga game I think it would be fun. Finally one more game I think would be great for a remake-over would be StarGlider 1&2. I used to just love those games and have some great memories there. Cheers!!!

I would love to see an updated version of TEST DRIVE II: The Dual, man I really used to love that game and the add on disks made it even better.

I'll add my name to the calls for Banshee.
Number one for me would be Chaos Engine. Yes, I know crawfish are doing CE3 (having said that, no news has been forthcoming and I think it may be vapour) but the original CE 1/2 combined with more/bigger levels, characters etc. and updated graphics would be awesome. I'd like to see this done with a top down view in a similar way to Millenium Soldier Expendable on the Dreamcast, that could work very well. Online co-op would be cool too.

there are some modern games like it but they all lack something, and they are far far behind.
oh, another good one is 'the killing cloud'. such a shame computers were too slow for it back then. it was a game ahead of its time.

There is source code for a similar game: Frontal Assault (http://apex-designs.net/frontalassault.html). Both are written in AmosPro however. I've tried to rewrite Frontal Assault in C++ but keep running into shortcomings in modern graphics hardware:
- No palette support exists therefore most of the color-cycling animations don't work.
- Emulating a palette requires shaders to work properly, and AFAIK there are no next-gen Amigas with shader support.
- Lastly, a shader with copper rainbow emulation wastes memory becuase it only uses 255 foreground colors and a high-color backdrop but OpenGL doesn't support 8-bit frame-buffers any more.
- Most graphics cards only support texture sizes of up to 1024 pixels across. This makes doing scrolling around on high-resolution screens difficult.

I see a few people mentioned Fairy Tale adventure. I quite liked this back when it was released. Me and my brother were playing it at roughly the same time. Being that he was more single minded with his games than I was (I'm more inclined to play a few games off and on at the same time) he progressed more quickly than me and got maybe 3/4 of the way through it before I accidently overwrote his save games with my own.... he wasnt happy with me :-) There is a PC version that was released at a similar time, but was also a sequel made for PC only. It's amazing how few amiga specific games there are, even if some started life on the amiga.... 90% or more of the games people have mentioned here also had pc versions, some even updates/remakes and/or sequels.
Back on topic, most of what Id like has been mentioned already, but I'd really like a revamped Z-Out (well, any of the better Amiga 2d scrolling shooters, but that was one of my favs.).

Scorched Tanks is awesome. No need to do a remake. Worms is like an updated ST. Same thing with Lemmings... It's the game play, not the graphics that make those titles.
Street Rod. This would be way cool. Spent hours with that title. The racing part was lame, but the concept of the game was great. Other car titles eventually updated through game consoles.
A couple of aircraft titles that need to be remade/updated:
Mega Fortress ~ could only get it to run on an 1.3 A500
B-17 Flying Fortress ~ If anyone knows of a modern pc equivalent, please direct me to the flight deck.
I always thought Amiga car simulaters weren't as diverse as the flight sims and felt quite primitive. When I migrated to windoze, my computer gaming went mostly towards Playstation. Except for Tribes and Tribes2.

I vote for Faery Tale Adventure also. My favorite game on the Amiga.
My wife loves the Valhalla games.
