Old hard disk
« on: February 17, 2003, 02:20:39 PM »
Hi everybody,
I have an old hard disk with a lot of ADF on it. Is it possible to put it in an amiga and to get back my ADF files? What can I do?

Yes... in much the same way you could plug it into a PC and get the files back (you`ll need to install/activate crossDOS though). As for using the files... Amigas won't run ADF files directly. You'll have to find a way of dumping them back to disk.

I seem to remember hearing that UAE can now load from Amiga formatted HDs. Maybe I'm wrong. One of the emulator enthusiasts would be able to help you.

The new versions of WinUAE (don't know about other OSes - my LinuxUAE is old) can load in Amiga formatted or empty partitions.  You need 2000 or XP to do this, though.

Linux should be able to handle FFS formated HDs just like any FAT, VFAT, HPFS, etc formated HDs.
