;-) Maybe you would.  I own an Apple Powerbook myself, and I would like nothing better than to be able to run Amiga OS on it.  (Natively, of course.  Mac UAE is only so-so.)

Not sure if ArtisiaS is suitable for laptop, but...

After AOS4 is in mature state...

Someone could try to make a deal with apple about some powerbooks to be sold with the Amiga license.

Other option is to build a laptop around embedded chips... ~500Mhz few hundred milliwatt 440GP should be ok with AOS4...

I think some sort of portable could be constructed using the mini-atx used by the Pegasos,

YUCK! too big!
i would want somthing sleek and sexy a bit like(IMHO) the older G3 powerbooks!

NIce thread , a good idea...

but i think..

1. Would be to expensive to even think of (using G3/4)
   (look at the Mac laptops)

2. Someone said "use it with what" , thats my wuestion also, as atm there aint much PPC stuff out, but yes i agree..LATER!!

I think that this is a good idea, running Aos4 on a ppc laptopand i guess it would appeal to many in a later stage.

but i wont pay 3x times the price of an A1 for a laptop, not unless its great!

Whats up with all the hate!

There is a company that make high end SPARC based UNIX laptops: Tadpole. Perhaps they will be interested in manufacturing PowerPC laptop for running Linux, AmigaOS and MacOS.

Tadpole

Problems:
1. Is G3 or G4 suitable for Laptops? What about power, size  and thermal problems?
2. Is there any PowerPC chipset suitable for laptops?
3. What about the video display chip for LCD?
4. WHO will buy such product? What is the size of the market?

There are already PPC laptops. "PowerBook" and "iBook" should ring a bell. :)

Drop the hardware distributor license requirement nonsense, port AmigaOS to a few PB/iB models, and sell shrinkwrapped copies of AmigaOS. Problem solved.

Maybe some third-party vendor would even like to sell licensed Mac/AmigaOS bundles, if so, great. But that's unlikely to happen and nothing to expect or depend upon. And the rest of the Mac market, including the second-hand one, shouldn't be removed as an option for AmigaOS users.
Maybe it\\\'s still possible to save AmigaOS  :rtfm:......

1. yes!! the macintosh powerbooks use them! and there was an ibm rs/6000 notebook once!!
2.yep
3.just the display chips used in the above, it doesnt matter you can use display hardware for x86
4. I will buy such a product! the number of people who will buy it will be low, but i would pay quite a bit for an actual amiga PowerPC notebook! if it is good enough
