Title: AmigaOS 3.1.4 & AmigaOS 4 FE Classic
Post by: digitalMedic on December 13, 2019, 12:46:47 AM
Hi all,

I purchased both products for my A4000T.  I have yet to install AmigaOS 4FE Classic on it yet as I installed AmigaOS 3.1.4.1 & the new roms.  Admittedly, I have not looked at AmigaOS 4 all that much, so I don't know much about it, but I bought it to support Amiga development.

So, my question, out of curiosity, is why did Hyperion make two different operating systems?  Is there a plan to integrate the two products over time?  We already have fragmentation of the OS, it just seems odd to make the situation worse.

Rick

System requirements for OS4 are much higher. Most notably, you will need a PowerPC CPU card.

"They" don't do operating systems. Some developers do. As long as there is interest from the developers, the products will continue. Hyperion acts mostly as publisher, provider of an infrastructure and holder of an IP license pool here.
