Hey All, Can someone please give me the correct IP for connecting to Aminet
through AmiFTP. All the sites they have do not connect me. Much appreciated.
Brad

Don't know the FTP settings, but just fyi Aminet works fine on classic systems through Ibrowse. If that helps you at all. ;)

Are you trying to upload? You need to use an FTP client to upload to Aminet. Connect to http://ftp://main.aminet.net/new using anonymous as user and your email address as password.

I have no idea how current this info is
The list of current mirrors can always be found on the wiki:
http://wiki.aminet.net/Mirrors
Simply connect to any of these using anonymous FTP and start downloading.
If you want to upload, you need to connect to main.aminet.net, as somebody already pointed out.
All the sites they have do not connect me.
What kind of error message do you get?

Well, two of the sites just hang at "Connecting" Two of the sites connect
but they are not Aminet Sites, One says incorrent logon.
Thanks so much for all the Help!

The mirror maintainers would probably like to know if FTP doesn't work, so it would be helpful if you put the names of the ones which don't.
I run us3.aminet.net (aminet.ziaspace.com), which runs on an Amiga 1200, incidentally, and just double checked that anonymous FTP works for both IPv4 and IPv6. No problems. If you have any problems, please let us know.

For years I have been interested in running a mirror. I have a spare 2000 I could throw at it.
But, how did you get your 1200 to do IPv6?

Oh - it's not running AmigaDOS - it's running NetBSD. It's also used for compiling bulk pkgsrc packages for m68k NetBSD.
I don't have any space for running computers where I can actually use them right now, so no AmigaDOS at the moment.

Would be nice if they could make ADT work again.

All of the sites listed are Aminet sites. If you can't see the aminet directory tree directly after logging in, go the the "aminet" or "pub/aminet/" directory. They all accept anonymous FTP users (I just verified that), not sure why you'd get an error message when logging in.
se.aminet.net does indeed time out, I'll notify the mirror admin.
May I ask why you insist on using FTP? Please refrain from mass downloads.

The server is still generating the index files for ADT clients. What does not work is the search function. We rewrote the old search server in python and had it running for a while, but it created all sorts of problems (it's been nearly a decade - but something about our hosting company not liking the non-standard port, IIRC), so we had to shut it down.

This thing needs some updating :)

Heh, forgot about that one. It still compiles, but crashes with a memory access fault on my linux setup.
Not sure it's worth the effort, though. If someone wants to have a go, be my guest. I might have a slightly updated version lying around that supports passive ftp and (slightly) longer filenames, but most certainly suffers from the same problems these days as the one on Aminet.

Well since I’m late to the Amiga connectivity game - by 7 years at least!- my zz9000 card got me online but despite full connectivity (roadshow, etc), and being able to connect to us3.aminet.net- I only get an empty directory no matter what I CD into… /pub/aminet, aminet, / etc etc
These ftp still working … in 2022?
PS- the A3000 refuses to run the SDbox, and the ZZ9000 won’t automount the usb thumb drive (still experimental!?) so I’m trying to get larger than .adf sized apps like ibrowse into the damn A3k!

Try using simply aminet.net (without the us3 prefix), it should connect you to a working server.
Best regards,
Niels

Yes, I just tried with IE (most browsers don't support FTP anymore). ftp.aminet.net worked without problems.
