@ MagicSN

No you did not read it right, I said that the amiga version seems like crap, I said that becasue it worked like crap on my A4000/060 with 118MB ram and CV643D, and to read comments about other users having problems with their demo version does not suprise me.
There was a time I can remember computers were fun...I miss my A1200.

I would just like to know one thing.

Is Freespace for amiga as good as the PeeCee version, or is it lacking in some Glide features(namely multitexturing) that made the original so good?

:::EDIT:::

Are the cutscenes included too? Are they the same quality?

AFAIK, the CV643D is based on the S3's Virge-chipset, which was known as a 3D-decelerator when it first came out. :-)
Freespace ran like a dream on my P166 with a Voodoo2 card, so it should at least be fully playable on a 060/60 and a Permedia2 based card like CVision3D.
Dunno about the Virge-cards though, but my old virge died on me when I tried to play Q2 via a D3D to OpenGL wrapper. :-D

WarPiper: Freespace on Amiga 68k requires at least
a Permedia 2 (or Voodoo) Graphics Board. A Virge
is just too slow. Especially as the game is in 640x480,
and a Virge is only halfways fast in Lowres. Play somewhere else, troll...

KingTutt: On your message I checked the source
of the Glide-Renderer again, and I could not detect
ANY usage of Multitexturing there. Maybe in Freespace 2 ?

But yes, the game looks exactly the same on PC and Amiga (at least in 3D Hardware Rendering).

The cutscenes are included. As to the quality: Well, in
the intro-animation we had to degrade quality a bit, so it
would not be too slow on slower Amigas, but all the other
Animations (the in-game ones) have same quality like
the original Animations.

I just hope they make FreeSpace 2 for OS4/A1. It would be good to keep the quality of the PeeCee version, if not improve on it. Besides we're talkin A1@600mhz minimum specs here,so c'mon.. thats more than enough to handle a game like FreeSpace 2 with full features.

:-)

I'm sure the Mac Faithful will also enjoy a slightly tweaked version ported to work on their platform too.
