Ok, I recognise about half of what's listed there, but what the heck is the rest of it?  Sure this isn't just an Early April fool, or another IWIN job? :-)

Looking at the URL, and still I'm asking, "what is it?"... I mean, what's it for, what audience is the end product aimed at?  The "RTOS" bit at the bottom suggests something pretty whacky.

OS4 would not run on it - it wouldn't have the dongle!  That aside, some of the specs look fairly OS4/MorphOS friendly BUT  there looks like a lot of custom hardware on it.  All that would need drivers, so i cannot see it working.

Out of interest, what would you want it for! :-?

The CPU on this is a PowerPC 405. Hmmm.. should find out if there's a PowerPC 405 edition of MorphOS

Think of this deivce a being closer to a PDA :-D

This is a reference platform, a piece of hardware for companies to use to develop custom solutions.

Where might a device like this be used? One example might be a touch screen bank ATM, or a touch screen ticket machine for the movie theatre or bus tickets, and so on...

Hardly.. if you did a search for 'powerpc 405 embedded, who knows you might turn up a lot of devices like this.

In devices like these an 'RTOS' (Real Time Operating System) is needed because they require reliability. You surely wouldn't want to run WindowsCE or PocketPC on a device that requires reliability.

An example of another good RTOS would be QNX.. remember when the new version of the AmigaOS was going to be based on this?

There is no articia chipset on the device. therefore Amiga OS 4 or MorphOS will NOT run on the device.

Pros:
1. Quad PowerPC 405 400 MHz core, beat G3-600 MHz SE.
2. Low power consumption.
3. There is an Intent for MontaVista, therefore AMIGA DE can run on top of it.

Cons:
1. No cache/ SMP coherency on multi PPC405.
2. What about power consumption & thermal problems? I heard about power problem with PPC405.
3. What is the price of such device? US$ 1000?
4. Either No FPU (floating point) or MMU (memory management / protection) on PPC 405.

MorphOS runs on top of a Quark microkernel so should run on just about anything PPC. Pegasos and A1 rely on Articia - I doubt whether MOS does. All anyone would need to do to get it to run on a 405 is tweak the kernel - no changes to MOS would be needed.

There is no articia chipset on the device. therefore Amiga OS 4 or MorphOS will NOT run on the device.

Both have a HAL to easily be ported so the different chipsets so using a different chipset is not a problem as long as it is well documented.
