Datalfyer CD-XDS + ASIM CD-File System
« on: January 05, 2003, 04:48:05 PM »
I need your kind help.

I have recently put together A1200 with 40 MHz bost card ans whooping 32 MB ext. RAM. I wanna play games and more games on it! ;-) But: I have recently bought Datalfyer CD-XDS CD-ROM chassis on ebay, and combined it with some 40x IDE CD-ROm drive (sett to slave). I plugged it all together, everything worked fine, desktop showed up as usually, when I put in some blue floppy disk that was on the bottom of the box that was suppose contain ASIM CD-File System - it automounted, the icon had its text line at the top and twice, like 2 overlapping icons. Then my A1200 loaded something off that floppy disk something scratched on HD then on the froppy disk, then everything went black and since then my A1200 won't start up, even when converted dback to its original set up. It keeps periodically cratching first on HD and then in floppy drive every 15 sec. or so.

What can be wrong with it??? Am I doomed not to enjoy my beloved games I once enjoyed on my A500?  :-?

The ebay item is here "http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2081660588"

Thanks for any leads,

Sounds bad,

Have you checked the floppy for viruses? A virus can very easily been transferred to floppy accidently to your system.

Have you disconnected all the extra hard ware and see if its a possible hardware problem that suddenly cropped up such as a loose cable etc.?
