Hardware problems - Cyber.-PPC Service places?
« on: October 18, 2002, 09:47:59 AM »
I, by some stupid reason, managed to blast an UW-3 drive while connected to my miggy's PPC card.
The disk I don't care about, btw I got a new one, but the PPC controller got really unstable.
The miggy' (A4k) boots, loads WB, and works generaly... for some minutes... then it freezes!
Mostly at boot, probably at SCSI controller driver load...
So, what I realy need is a service center that is still in operation.
Pref. in Scandinavia, or Northern Europe. But any one will do as long as they actualy CAN fix it :)

Whatever you do don't send it to DCE or they will steal it like they did so many others.  Try www.amiga.fr - they seem quite good (repaired some cards for Hyperion and others).

Which CyberStorm card do you have???  I'm just wondering if I have to worry about mine.  That's why I have two of them.  Keeping one as a spare in case the one I'm using now "gives up".  (BTW, they're both CS MK-III 060/50 cards that I have.)

Mine's one of the overpriced PPC ones I got last year when I actually had money for the only time in my life.  It's got the classic loose PPC problem.  I had it jerry-rigged to work for a while where the cd-rom in my A4000D had some supports underneath it pushing down on the PPC/Heatsink assembly.  But that finally stopped working last night.

Yikes.  Sounds like shoddy manufacturing done on the card to me.

I bet if all thats wrong is the PPC is loose you can go to a Mac repair place and have them remount it. That shouldnt be all that hard to do for them.
