Title: A couple of dead easy questions!
Post by: Alexander on July 01, 2007, 12:28:57 PM
Hi all,

New to the site, check out my "hello" post in the new users forum...

Anyway, I'll start off with a couple of embarrassingly easy (for you) questions, if you'd be so kind as to help me out;

I've got an A1200, with a 1.3Gb HD (no other expansions). I was really enjoying Beneath a Steel Sky, which I'd HD installed using the software's own installer, up until when I saved my game. Going back the next day, I can load the savegame but can't leave the location without the machine locking up, glitching then crashing. I've also been getting "go to table error" on the rare occasions I can leave the location and try and get in a lift etc.

Usenet guys have advised me to save my savegame file and reinstall the game, which is no problem (I've even bought another copy of it, in case one of the floppies is corrupted). But! I don't know where to find the save game - can anyone help?

And finally, a stupid easy one. Syndicate, the third mission, when you have to go into the town and kill all the enemy agents, but you can only leave by car. I get in the car and try and leave and it just goes round in circles! What am I missing???

Thanks in advance, guys!

Can't help with the "Beneath the weight of 15 disks" but the syndicate game should be simple enough. The route planning for the cars was pretty simple and the best way to force it to go where you want is to plan the route for it ;)

As the car goes along click down each of the roads you want it to turn down, also make sure you're clicking on the correct side of the road or it once again gets confused.

It's not really enough to just click on the final destination of the car as the limited CPU time didn't allow them to put in full path finding algorithms it seems.

Welcome to Amiga.org :-D

Andy

Ha ha yeah 15 disks did seem a bit like overkill - I must say playing large games like that and Monkey Island off the HD is terrific, though!

Thanks for the Syndicate tip - I get what you mean. Right, I'm off to do some drive-bys!

If its of any interest to you,Beneath A Steel Sky is apparently abandonware and there is a download of the whole game available to run on an emulation package called ScummVM which can run on AmigaOS,Windows,MacOS,Linux etc etc

Yeah, thanks I did know that - it's great news! I've even got BaSS on WinUAE so I can play it on my PC, but I really want to complete the game sat on my couch in front of my telly, with my girlfriend helping, drinking a cold beer! I sit in front of a PC all day at work and hate the things, that's the beauty of Amiga gaming!

Still no clue where the save files are located in Beneath a Steel Sky (or any game) - can anyone help?

Doesn't sound like abandonware to me, in fact that's far from it.

It's very nice that they've released for free, though.
