Yellow screen when booting WinUAE
« on: May 11, 2004, 03:19:47 PM »
Can someone tell me what it means.
I'm getting a Yellow screen when booting WinUAE.
I've yet to get WinUAE to boot up.

I've tried 3 different rom images and several
config variations.
I thought it might be Windows itself so I wiped
the drive and installed Win 98 SE w/updates again.
Still the yellow screen.
I have no idea what the Yellow screen is telling me.

Help ...........

Your Amiga ROM file is corrupt?

I have DirectX 9 installed..........
Of the 3 rom images I tried one was a SuperKickstart
image from my A3k before I upgraged to 3.1 roms.
The others are a kick grab from my A3k with 3.1 roms
and the other is from an A500 with 3.1 roms.
I need the 3.1 rom image because I want to run OS 3.9.

WinUAE didn't like the 'Softkick' image with the bonus
code, said it was a bad image but with the other images
I don't get a requester saying 'Bad Image'

Hi

If the emulated Amiga acts like a real Amiga, the yellow screen should indicate the following:

yellow -- an unexpected processor exception occured during the initialization of the system, i.e. before the Guru was prepared. This color code can, by the way, also occur if the rest routine is entered from outside the supervisior mode (e.g. by a direct jump). On the A3000, this may be an indicator of defective hardware, as asseccing "nonexistent" memory (of faulty hardware) may result in a bus-error exception.

Taken from "The Amiga Guru Book".

I think you should check your WinUAE settings.

I'd check the rest of the emulator settings.  Start out with some specs that are similiar to the Amiga you copied the ROM from.  Heck, maybe even just try to get a 1MB A500 up, first.  My guess is your emulation is disliking some memory settings or other options set from the GUI.
