Your PC as a high-end Amiga environament
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:13:25 PM »
Hi,

Recent posts made me post this as I don't have an Amiga yet (anymore, now I wait for a system for PPC Mini).  Talking about my position, all I can say is that solutions like AmigaSYS deliver lots of fun and let me touch the "advanced OS3.x" features at actually NO cost.

Been limited to Mac/PC/Linux bare resources, all I can use now is:

-AmigaForever: I use it purely for A500 gaming, got some extra material on DVDs  It is roughly not much more than WinUAE, plus some extra paid materials I just love

-AmiKit or AmigaSYS - tip-top-made desktops, I train the application knowledge and usage before I touch it for real, they're heavily developed (frequent updates)

-Amiga In A Box or ClassicWB - similar to the above but they seem not being supported anymore, or maybe just not maintained

There's also a solid CD with AmiKit (2nd limited edition), just for production and shipping cost, which is something very unique in a nowadays Amiga world.  I wait until AmigaSYS pre-installed USB will be available, too.

The reason why I post is that I'd like to thank Jan, Dary and all people involved with making UAE look like the real Amiga, just for people having no occasion to have one (for the time being, hopefully).  Thanks guys and keep it on!  Also, not being sure what is the ACTUAL official distribution page of the remaining solutions: AIAB and ClassicWB, I don't know how to paypal it.  Anybody?

OH BTW I also use

-Icaros Desktop VE - couldn't make AROS install on my machine so I run it seldom, just to learn AROS.

EDIT* Damn! how to edit a typ0 in the topic subject???
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)
