Title: Was GEOS developed on the C64?
Post by: Tenacious on February 11, 2012, 09:42:12 PM
I'm starting to thin and organize my vintage computer collection.  It's hard to enjoy the favorite few things if there is no room to set them up.

Anyway, I found a package with GEOS Ensemble 2.0.  It runs (I think) on XT class PCs and was an alternative to early Windows.  It includes a suite of productivity applications.  The system includes 7 floppies, 2 thick manuals and various pamphlets.

I was checking e-Bay for a comparative value, but, Geos seems to have disappeared into the mist of history.

Yes, the GEOS exists first for C64, but when Microsoft makes Windows 2.0, a PC version appears, you can search in google "geos for PC" and found it in wikipedia.

Google says it was first released on C64, not if it was developed on it. Interesting note: a GEOS derivative ran on top of a DOS derivative on the old Nokia 9000 communicator. How cool is that =).

GEOS was originally developed as a headrest-embedded computer for airlines call Sky Tray.

There was a GeoWorks product for PCs, but it lacked an
ad campaign and revenue stream. I used it for quite some time
for quality printing on Epson laser printers.
