One question i want to ask. Will older games like dizzy work on the 1200 ?

I remember playing them on the 500 then i got hte 1200. My old games like dizzy didnt work (some games that didnt work were pirated, but dizzy wasnt) I think it was either fantasy land dizzy or treasure island. Cant remember. Also which was the dizzy where you chased food around a maze like pacman. ?

No problem. as for where you to get one is a tougher question.  You could scan Ebay or place a wanted ad on Amibench

Interesting, never seen a 3 button Maverick before.

Yes i have heard that Megadrive pads work on an Amiga to, if they have the same pinouts i don't see why not.
I'm sure there are a few here who may have used one in  the past and can comment further just to be sure.

If everything is working as it should be, yep its not a bad price.

If you just want to run very old games that require no heavy cpu/mem usage then a bog standard A1200 should do the job, it will run most of the older a500 games with some kickback utilities/alittle fiddling
If you want something with a bit more power, you may want something i have just come across while very quickly browsing  ebay ..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3039194662&category=11991

If the CPU in question with that Amiga is an 040 which it seems to be according to this and you can pick up this complete system up for under £100, that be quite a killer deal.
It will rise from its current £41.00 bid.

I just remembered i actualy had one of these cards, you can't get much faster in the 68k classic line besides the 060 leap.
I'm not even gonna try to remember what i paid for it either back in the day  :-o

If i get just a bog standard 1200, and wanted to put a CDrom onto it, how much am i looking at...and what fiddling is required, just stick the pcmcia in the trap door ?Any installation ?

Also, old games on the 1200, if they dont work, what type of kickstart fiddling are you refering to. What would be needed to be done..?

The pcmcia slot is not located in the trapdoor slot but rather at the side of the A1200, the trapdoor is mostly used for Accelerators/ram expansions.

Basically your choices for getting an CD hooked up to an A1200 are The pcmcia route with something like the Squirrel pcmcia  interface but this is quite an expensive route and the only plus side is that it is external so you do not need a towered Amiga.  They could be hard to locate also.
The much cheaper route is to use the onboard IDE connector on the a1200 Motherboard with some kind of IDE buffered device, but you will need a Towered Amiga.
You can probably get a cheap IDE buffered devices or something abit more expensive like the Powerflyer from places like  Eyetech

If i where you though and to take all the hassle out of getting everything you need, get an Amiga thats already towered or includes all you want/need, classic Amiga hardware is very expensive new.

Plenty of info and what you need here

I yer i forgot about that side slot.

Well. Im gonna start bidding. Ive found mostly bog standard 1200s in my budget range. That upgraded one is going up and up. I may bid on it but i expect it to be around 70 by tomorow.

I found a cd32 for 10 so far, and a pad and 6 games for 6 quid so far too. Interesting.
