Title: Amiga 500 ram expansion
Post by: _ThEcRoW on October 13, 2005, 02:39:41 PM
Hello, just upgraded my a500 to 1mb with a 512k upgrade (3-state 502+). The memory works fine, and finally i got running my all time favorites who required 1mb to run. The questionis that this expansion have a battery prone to leak(as i had read about it from others on this board), and i want advice on how to remove it. I know it's almost exhausted, because when i boot into wb 1.3 and set time/date, on a reset or a cold boot, the time/date gets reset to default, so i'm assuming that the battery hasn't enough power to maintain the RTC.
So, how can i safely remove this battery, without damage to the mobo?. On the other side, i don't need so much the clock, only the ram, and it works perfect, so if it permits me keep safe the expansion, good.
Any advices?
Thanks in advance!

Snip the leads with a pair of dykes. Unsolder the leads. Or, find some nerd to do it for you.

I mean to removing the battery only, not the battery holder.

If BBoA's pic is correct, there's no holder. The leads are welded to the battery. A new one comes with its own leads.
