I followed a link from the Ottawa Amiga show story to:

CineReal which includes information about:

Non-linear editing systems from Matrox.

Hmm. I wouldn't mind having a nice NLE-system on my AOne...

Hmm it does look great...

However, the specifiactions do not look al that "Amiga" friendly to me :-(

Quote

- Windows XP Home or Professional
- 512 MB DDR RAM or RDRAM
- Free PCI slot
- Display card (Matrox G450, G550, or Parhelia recommended)
- 16-bit sound card

- Additional A/V drive for realtime export to disk
- DV-1394 camcorder or VTR

True - but give them time. Likely havn't had much time to develop for the A1.
They DID start out using the C64 (as did I) and moved on to classic Amigas.
There has been a big time (and power) gap between the DraCo/Cassablanca and now when A1s are almost out. Naturally, PCs or Macs have taken most of the under-SGI market.

I'm just speculating here:

CineReal seem to do a lot themselves....
like Amiga-using companies in Western Australia and New Zealand did when each developed Amiga-based systems for broadcast in 1994 or 1995.

Then again, Matrox are said to have commitment to the AmigaOne from back when all there was WAS that Zirco (Zico?) stuff.

If ANYONE could work on this (it seems to me) ... that CineReal AND Matrox could work togather on this.

What's others thoughts?

I dont think it's gonna happen....to much money to bring matrox to a system that is argueably to slow and definitly wont sell volume needed to make back their money on the investment...If some company wanted to make a custom AOS4/PPC all in one machine I'd believe it...since it's been done before...kinda like the casablanca avio or was it Kron? wich one used aos?... I forget ...but anyway I think the only want AOS4 is gonna get turned into a serious video editing product is if a company wants to sell a custom all in one product useing it... I doubt Matrox would invest much in it..

The problem is that MATROX has no real software.  Cinereal does some great turnkey solutions etc, but MATROX's cards depend on Adobe Premiere, and somewhere between the 3rd and 4th Beastiality joke that Fleecy told at the Developers Meeting, Adobe guys gave up on Fleecy's vision.    Though Matrox is probably willing to give info about running their card etc to Amiga or interested parties with an NDA.  So are most of the other NLE people, but an entire NLE would have to be written, which is a pretty substantial effort.

Nice one John. Thanks for the link.

Sorry it took so long to answer... I've been up to my neck in shyte... Changing main drum bearings on the bloody washing machine !! (think i'll go back to work for a break !!)

Matrox are supposed to have some kind of partnership deal with amiga Inc so who knows?

It would be well kewl to have a Matrox edit suite for the new breed of Amigas.. ( A1 or Pegasos) and I would DEFINATELY be one of the first to buy such a suite.
