1084s broke
« on: May 16, 2016, 05:33:03 PM »
My 1084s just broke down :(  I left it on, and later it just went blank, LED off, with high pitched sound. That sound slowly fades when turned off.
What could it be? I never replaced the caps.
TIA.
Better sorry than worry.

Flyback?  Any old TV shops in your area?  Have heard they're usually pretty handy at fixing them.  I wouldn't mess with one personally, too many high voltages.  On the bright side, you've got yourself a new doorstop!

well, I've planned to replace the innards with some OLED.
too bad they will probably all be, like, 16:9.
thanks for the tip.

More than likely the flyback, it's an easy fix though.  Any local TV repair shop should be able to do it for a pretty cheap price.

It seems you are right, electrician says transformer is broken, after analyzing a transistor.
I've managed to find  HR7533 locally for 10eur+postage. Should arrive today.
yay! :)
Better sorry than worry.
