Good question. At this time very little work has been done to get AROS to boot a real Amiga/UAE. I've thought about doing some work myself, but I'm not very good with C compilers/cross compilers :-(

I've just applied to have CVS access to the source.  I'll write some docs first as suggested on #aros on irc.

Amithlon/Umilator with AROS compiled native x86 with Bernie's 68k JIT would be an excellent product to market.  It would sell loads, be 100% legit, be a technical marvel, and generate funds for future development.

Has any one talked to Bernie about a collaboration?

It'd be one in the eye for Harald F**K too.

On another note, the above combo but compiled native PPC would be an excellent replacement for OS4 and MorphOS.  Screw the lot of them at once! ;-)

Yes, he said he's not interested.

More fool him then! ;-)

Couldn't the AROS team just use the UAE-JIT GPL code?

Yes, but apparently (RE: recent chat with Fabio), the JIT uses MP to trap memory access (or something like that), and thus AROS can't run it at full speed :-/

Shame.  But surely even slow 68k emulation has got to be better than none?
