Title: Using Raspberry Pi and Linux as a x11 server
Post by: NinjaCyborg on November 13, 2018, 04:46:19 PM
Has anyone thought of using a rPi running Linux as an x11 server, running a x client on your classic Amiga, so that you can run linux software on your Amiga effectively using the rPi as a co-processor and linux host, a bit like the old Janus PC in an Amiga card? Seeing as how an rPi is little bigger than a USB hub.

You're not the first to think of such a thing.  Personally, when Dr. Michal Schultz gets AROS working on the RasPi 2 and 3, that may be a better solution because Linux runs heavily on 1 GiB shared memory systems.  I replaced my RasPi with an ODroid XU4 until something lighter comes along.

Then you'd have to use VNC or something though to get at the AROS, and AROS doesn't really have any interesting software Amiga doesn't have except maybe a less shitty browser, but still not a good browser.
