$190 / EU160 flash based mini-laptop, the ideal platform for E-UAE?

Most of you have probably read on various news sites that Asustek have announced a small lightweight linux based laptop with a 1GHz Pentium-M, 2Gb, 4Gb or 8Gb of flash based storage , 512Mb of DDR RAM, WiFi, 56.6K modem and a 7” screen.  Much like the OLPC project, but this will be readily available throughout the world.

Am I the only one thinking it would make a perfect platform for E-UAE?  Imagine one of these babies loaded with a very minimal linux installation (just enough to boot straight in E-UAE), and a fully loaded Amiga installation, including goodies such as AmigaKit, all in a cheap, lightweight portable package.   Using your favourite utilities and playing games on this ultra portable should be really cool.  Hopefully a generous developer will add direct support for the Wi-Fi capabilities in E-UAE and OS3.x, if it’s not already available.

As e-uae transparently uses the network stack of the host OS, I don't see any problem with wifi.

With a nod towards driver issues (not sure what chipsets are being used), running AROS natively on it would be a perk for me.  One of these days E-UAE integration will happen to AROS.

I have an asus 7inch netbook ($150 from Sams Club) and the battery lasts about 4 hours (up to 5 hours on minimal apps)

I'd rather keep using my A1600 netbook with Aros. A 10.2" screeen is small enough, I don't think I could handle a 7" one.

Why don't more people buy these inexpensive unbranded netbooks? Is it because of brand name obsession that you'd rather spend twice as much for the same thing with an Asus or Acer badge on it?

I'm just waiting for someone to get the idea and start reselling these things with Aros/Icaros preinstalled (along with Ubuntu Netbook Remix perhaps). They make sweet little computers, I've never actually been happy with a PC before this one. But of course it has no ugly badges or brand names slapped all over it, it's just plain black and red and looks frelling sweet. I've been using it for months, Aros and UAE are beautiful on it.

It'd be great to see Amithlon resurrected and put onto a netbook as a commercial product. Oh wait, that would actually be shipping product... my bad, never mind. Back to ebay to hoard Amigas..

I have one Acer AspireOne Netbook (atom 1,6) and i do use it as multi-purpose emulation platform... It can run fairly well a wide range of emulators... From a plain Atari 2600 to a N64, and probably could handle GameCube or Dreamcast emulators (wich i haven't tried yet)

However i'm up to buy one of these unexpensive ARM 7" minis, i've found some chinese dealer that ships one unit to you for a total price of 70 euro.

I think its a nice device to take with you on a trip without worrying about it being stolen. And i'm sure quite nice to put Aros on, however i don't know how could i manage a dual boot for Aros and WinCE.
