E-UAE on Lubuntu Slowdown
« on: October 28, 2011, 12:04:35 AM »
Hi all,
I'm after installing E-UAE on my laptop running Lubuntu 11.04. It all seemed to go fine, the hard disk image file from my WinUAE setup boots fine and it looks great. However, after a couple of minutes, E-UAE slows right down, and CPU usage goes from near 100% to 20% or so, then jumps around between 20% and 100%, but mostly at the low end. All this time the machine is fully responsive (it really does have all that CPU time free) and there's no disk access. It just seems like E-UAE is "throttling back" for no apparent reason.

Does anyone know what might cause this? There are no other applications running at the time, it's a fairly standard install, and there's plenty of memory free. I tried WinUAE under Wine on the same machine and it doesn't slow down like this, though it's pretty unusable for other reasons.

Thanks!
